How To Avail GIC thru CIBC

Student Guaranteed Investment Certificate is a mandatory requirement is you are applying for student visa under the Study Direct Stream. But even if you're applying under the Regular Processing, you may also submit a GIC and it helps increase your chances of your approval.

Initially, only Scotiabank offers Student GIC Program. But Canadian Imperial Bank if Commerce (CIBC) now also offers Student GIC Program and they have a more simple process.

#1 go to this link > https://isbo.cibc.com , then choose Student GIC , Select payment currency "USD"
then Click Student Information.

#2 then fill up student information , please attach also your Admission Letter or Letter of Acceptance from your School , in Creating password please take note of your password , password is case sensitive

my sample password : Legacyofd!7
If you enter zetteski0916@yahoo.com in the referral details, CIC and you will get a CAD 25 referral bonus.

#3 review all the details if done  you may now submit it

heres the output

Please note that the minimum funds for GIC is CAD 10,000 for the Principal Applicant and maximum funds of CAD 20,000 that can cover living expenses of the accompanying spouse (CAD 4,000)and two accompanying child(CAD 3,000 x 2). Adding the living expenses of the accompanying dependents is optional but it is also recommended as this will also be counted as proof of funds.

UPDATE as of May 9 2019

I got an email from CIBC to download the payment instructions for GIC

Study Direct Stream Updated Banks for GIC

There's a recent Program Delivery Update by IRCC concerning the new Student Direct Stream and the
Student Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) Program. As of April 30, 2019, SDS applications are being
centralized and processed by the Centralized Network (CN), and the service standard for SDS processing is 20
calendar days and are now processed online.

They update also provided instructions regarding the GIC. Applicant applying under Student Direct Stream must
provide proof of a Guaranteed Investment Certificate  (GIC) of CAN $10,000 or more from any bank insured by
the Canadian Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC) or any bank listed on the IRCC SDS Web page:

Scotiabank which was the first to offer the GIC Program for applicants from the Philippines. Although listed on the Canadian Deposit Insurance Company Website,
it is however, no longer listed in the IRCC SDS Web Page as a bank that meets the criteria for SDS. We've sent an inquiry to clarify this. How about those who purchased GIC before April 30, 2019?
The updates provided information concerning transition from paper application to online until May 15, 2019 but was silent about Scotiabank GIC.

For the meantime, we suggest that you do the GIC using CIBC or any of those listed banks.
